Alyse Campbell, MSW,LGSW

Associate Director of Student Well-Being, Gender Violence Prevention

Alyse joined Health Promotion and Well-Being in February of 2014. At JHU, she is a confidential resource for all students and learners who have experienced gender-based violence. She supervises the Bystander Intervention Training (BIT) program and SARU, the Sexual Assault Resource Unit (SARU). She sits on the Sexual Violence Advisory Committee to the Provost (SVAC). She educates in all areas of gender violence prevention and survivor support through hosting programming, workshops, conferences, and interdepartmental collaborations. Her work is rooted in trauma-informed response, social justice, and a melding of micro and macro social work.  

 Alyse has 11 years of working in higher education and 13 years of working in gender-based violence prevention and response. She holds an Associate’s Degree from the Community College of Baltimore County, a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies from Goucher College, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and is a licensed Social Worker. Before coming to Hopkins, Alyse was an Academic Advisor and taught English and Women’s Studies at her Alma Mater, the Community College of Baltimore County. She was a hotline responder for the House of Ruth Maryland. She co-piloted St. Agnes Hospital’s Breast Link program, connecting Baltimore women to free mammograms.
