Elora Orazio

Alcohol and Other Drugs Education Specialist

Elora Orazio joined Health Promotion and Well-Being in June 2020. She works to prevent students on all JHU campuses from experiencing problems with alcohol and other drugs use and to prevent problems from occurring again after a student has had an alcohol or drug related issue. Highly visible efforts include Blue Jays in the Blue Zone, Opioid Orientation, individual motivational interviewing sessions, and more. Elora collaborates with many departments across Johns Hopkins University to help provide students with a supportive environment that bolsters their overall well-being.

Previously, Elora has worked at Binghamton University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her PhD in the interdisciplinary Community Research and Action program at Binghamton University where she examined the predictors of Simultaneous Alcohol and Marijuana Use (SAM) in emerging adult college students. Additionally, Elora holds her MPH from Boston University School of Public Health and her BS in Health Education with a minor in Spanish and a concentration in Women’s Studies from Worcester State University. When not working, you can often find Elora cooking a delicious meal, listening to podcasts, tending to her house plants, or spending time with her loving dogs, Maslow and Mowgli.
